“The Way is not in the sky
The Way is in the heart.”
Buddha

My intention as a teacher, and in my own emotional evolution, is to practice staying present with feelings. So it is with great tenderness that I approach this journey into the heart, the part of us that beats and pumps and gives and receives and takes the old and transforms it into the new, purifying us, every minute of every day.

The wilderness of our hearts scares us. We haven’t been taught to track our feelings, much less respect them. In fact, we often feel ashamed of them when they do pop up. Even in our own families we hold back, dismiss and deny true responses. Even in the dark of the movie theater we swallow our tears. This is very sad. We’ve lost our spontaneity. Why do we give fear so much power?

To befriend our emotions, to not be frozen by fear, is our destiny on this dancing path. Fear is the clearest meter of our edge, the edge where we feel comfortable and grounded. When we start to feel uncomfortable, it’s a challenge. A challenge is an invitation to move from who we are into who we are becoming. The bigger the fear, the more important it is for us to face it. It’s not just a stoplight, it’s a huge road sign: COME DANCE WITH ME!

Let’s take the time to stop the world and pay attention to our hearts. Our attention is like a spotlight. Feelings live in our body parts, and when we shine the light of our attention on specific body parts, memories crack open and move, dissolving the hard hold they have on us. Shapeshifting through feelings as they come up will open us up to their messages, their symbols and their signals.

One of the single-most powerful acts we can do is to share our vulnerability. The more we open up and dance through our feelings, the safer the environment becomes to explore our edges. These dances will be our offering to the bigger world. They will be our prayers for peace.

This will be my focus not only in this workshop but also for my entire residency.

Schweibenalp – A Special Place Setting
Schweibenalp is located on a small high plateau of Alpine pastures and mountain forests at about 1.100m elevation with a steep slope dropping down for about 400m to Lake Brienz. Center of Unity is situated at the edge of the plateau in the seclusion right above Giessbach Falls, which are a 30 minutes’ walk away from Schweibenalp. Located on a clearing at the edge of Giessbach Gorge, Schweibenalp is surrounded by forests and the stunningly beautiful mountainscape overlooking the turquoise waters of Lake Brienz. According to the fascinating history of this place of power, it was here that the Druids built and maintained for centuries one of their first settlements. There are old, gnarled maple trees covered with moss and ferns, and strange rocks overlooking the area, as if witnesses of mystical times long past. One legend has it that the Druids buried their sacred relics in a cave in Gratfluh, the mountainside behind Schweibenalp. A part of the Way of St. James, the legendary pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, passes through Schweibenalp leading on to Isch and Iseltwald…

Directions

We recommend travelling by public transport, as Schweibenalp has very limited parking space available.

Travelling by Public Transport
Take the train via Luzern-Brünig or Bern-Interlaken to Brienz. At the train station, take the "Axalp" post bus to Bramisegg. From there, we will be happy to collect you free of charge. You can also get to Schweibenalp by walking up a forest trail for about 800m. Buses operate all year round. View the –> current time table.

For direct transfers from or to Brienz train station, we charge
CHF 25.–. Please, let us know early, if you require a transfer.

Travelling by Car
For the route to Brienz, please seee –> the route planner.

Exit the motorway at junction A8 Brienz / Giessbach / Axalp and drive up the mountain in the direction of Axalp until you come to "Bramisegg" restaurant. Turn right onto the side road and keep driving through the forest for about 800m. At the crossroads, keep to the right. As parking space is very limited, we recommend travelling by train. When travelling by car, we recommend parking in Brienz and travelling on to Schweibenalp by post bus or using our transfer service.
